How To Build A Positive Company Kulture: How We Did It

It’s no secret that Kennected is a successful SaaS company. More than 10,000 companies trust Kennected to help them with lead generation, automation, and education.

Everyone knows that we empower our clients by teaching them how to master LinkedIn marketing, copywriting, personal branding, and relationships. We even give them the tools they need to succeed, like our very own marketing automation software.

But we wouldn’t be able to help so many companies achieve their professional and business goals if we didn’t have a solid company of our own. We couldn’t help others succeed if we couldn’t help ourselves.

Aside from hard work, dedication, and experience, one of the main reasons why the Kennected team has managed to thrive is because of our positive company culture—or as we like to call it, our Kulture. Here we’re teaching you how to develop a positive work environment by telling you how we did it.

Ask anyone here in Kennected: the culture is amazing, and the team is unmatched.

How We Built a Company Kulture that Attracts Top Talent

The value of a good company culture cannot be understated. The difference between a healthy working environment and a toxic one is night and day. If people genuinely enjoy working with you, it will show in their results.

People will stick around longer, they will help each other grow, and they will put out as much value as they can—all for a company that they love.

Kennected built a positive culture by inspiring people to work towards their dreams, empower one another, and achieve more impact. Here at Kennected, we value relationships over money. And that doesn’t just apply to our clients. We apply that to every single team member.

So whenever we set out to help business professionals from other companies, we know we are talking from experience. Kennected understands what it takes to inspire one another and work towards a common goal.

We Started By Defining the Type of People We Wanted to Attract

Solid working teams aren’t built in a day. You need to start by identifying the type of people you want to attract. What kind of people do you want in your company? The more specific you get, the easier it will be to lock on to your target team members.

Kennected, for example, looked for people who want to work hard and get paid well. But we also wanted people who could afford to be commission-only after a draw period. If team members have a similar mindset, it is much easier to be on the same page. It will make the recruitment process easier too, because you can tell if a candidate is a good fit for your working environment.

Each member of the Kennected team has the similar goal of simplifying the lives of business owners and entrepreneurs through lead generation, education, and automation. More specifically, we have the goal of bringing the power of lead generation and marketing back to businesses and entrepreneurs.

Kennected was able to reach more than 10,000 companies in less than 2 years, and that was because everyone was working towards that one goal.

We Started With Leadership

Kennected was founded in 2018 on the backbone of years of digital marketing experience by Devin Johnson, Cody Harvey, Elliot Drake, Stephen Twomey, and Brandon Poplstein. The team has only grown since then.

Beyond the fact that each of the founders is a marketing expert in their own right, Kennected’s success can also be attributed to the fact that its leadership worked hard to cultivate a healthy and positive work culture. Because we value being the kind of people we want to attract, we decided to build a culture of fun.

We dance in the office, turn up the music loud, and get our meetings started almost every day with a dance party. This energy radiates through the team, and it makes it easier for the new guys and gals to buy into the Kulture. This is normal and all part of the operation here at Kennected. As a business owner, you have the freedom to build your own type of culture—as long as it is something everyone can get on board with.

We Put Kulture Online

We take pride in the culture we’ve developed—and we use it to attract more people who would potentially want to be on our team. By putting our Kulture online, we can show people that this is the type of work environment they can expect when they join our team.

We use Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and other social media platforms to showcase our Kulture. This allowed us to attract highly qualified candidates who wanted to be part of our Kulture.

You can do the same thing and encourage team members to talk about your own office Kulture and say what they love about working there.

Success Breeds Success

Our sales team was killing—so we managed to attract even more top talent. Remember that success breeds success. And when you start building up that momentum, you need to just run with it, and don’t slow down.

People aren’t just motivated by money: they want growth, stability, and upward mobility. Other people want to spend more time with their family, or earn the respect of their peers.

If they see that your company can help them reach their goals, they will gravitate towards it. So you also want to cultivate a Kulture of success and productivity. With a positive work environment, people are bound to be more productive. They will be willing to give their 100 percent every time, because they understand the value that they bring to the company, and they understand the team’s goals.

We Have Fun Together

All work and no play will bore your team members. You don’t want to create a boring work environment. It’s not bad to have a little fun every now and then—even if you’re at the office.

From Halloween parties to marketing and sales outings, we make sure the whole team is engaged in fun activities. We don’t just work together, we also have fun together. Not only is this good for everyone’s mental health, it will also bring the team closer together and make you a stronger unit.

We even have friendly competitions with prizes to bring out the competitive side of everyone. This way, you can turn something stressful into something enjoyable. We run sales competitions where we pit one team against another, and the winner gets a nice steak dinner, some cash, and bragging rights—until the next competition starts.

We Care About Our Team Members

Every company says that, but seriously, we care. We treat each member of the team like family. And if you care about your team, they will care about you.

Before you can expand, find new clients, and increase your revenue, you need to convince your team of your value first. Your sales staff should be there to be your company’s number one supporters. They should be advocates of your brand. They also need to be the first to buy into the company vision.

You will cultivate and develop that relationship over time, but for now, you have to focus on giving your team members what they need. Caring about your team will go a long way, and will naturally create a positive work culture.
